If it is necessary to know how a process responds to changes over time, it is in general necessary to take into account storage, e.g. storage of mass or energy. A process where changes over time are relevant is called a dynamic process. Mathematically, such a process is represented by a mixed system of differential and algebraic equations (DAE systems).

IPSEpro PSDynamics adds the functionality needed to describe a dynamic process and to solve the process model. At the core of PSDynamics is a powerful and robust solver that solves the set of DAE model equations fast and efficiently.

Dynamic Modeling Applications

To model dynamic processes with IPSEpro, the model library for the technology area of interest must be modified to include the desired dynamic equations. Currently, the only standard IPSEpro library that has been extended with transient equations is the Enginomix Pulp & Paper Library (EPP_P_Lib). In EPP_P_Lib, some of the equipment icons were modified to support dynamic liquor inventory storage analysis. The following IPSEpro modules are therefore currently used for dynamic modeling:
